Simplicity Makes Difference: Rolex Montre d’Aviateur Chronographe Edition Patrouille Suisse Watch

Posted on February 21st, 2012 in Watches Reviews

This timepiece, again, shows what I love so much about the watchmaker of Rolex. Simplicity, big dials, and smart looks, these points have so greatly explained my zeal for the brand. And in June last year, the company was pretty excited to present to its fans this new new Montre d’Aviateur Chronographe Edition Patrouille Suisse watch, simply another masterpiece created for pilots to conquer the sky.

Actually the model was made to pay tribute to the the Patrouille Suisse – the Swiss Air Force. And the design in my opinion is meant to tell people how a rolex watches replica can go understated and eye-catching at the very same time. The reason, I think, lies in its grey technical design. The case, however, is rendered in stainless steel and measures 42mm x 14.7mm.

On the back part of the timepiece you are going to find that the watch has been individually numbered and also a line saying “Tribute To Patrouille Suisse”. With its top shielded by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, this study construction ensures a water-resistance of 60 meters.

And when we come to the dial of this model, we all may be pleased with that high legibility it comes with. Contrasting Arabic numerals are employed to indicate central hours and minutes. The small seconds can be read through a counter at 9 o’clock. While its chronograph functions are displayed respectively via a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour sub-dial, which can be seen at 12 and 6 o’clock.

The display has also got a central chronograph seconds hand finalized by a red air fighter, which, of course, was made so as a respectful nod to the very famous Northrop F-5E Tiger II of the Patrouille Suisse aerobatics team. Apart from all these above, the watch also tells the day and date at 3 o’clock, which again has added to its functionality.

The heart breathing life into all these functions is the brand’s proprietary caliber 79320. Incorporating 25 jewels, this amazing engine operates at the speed of 28,800 vibrations per hour, allowing a power reserve of 44 hours.

And to further nicely complete the whole style, this new Rolex model is paired with a black textile strap with grey stitching. Yet, coming in a limited edition of merely 300 pieces already means huge difficulty in obtaining any of these timepieces, not to mention the sky-high price. So if you also can’t resist that charm yet can’t afford it, why not go for the Swiss replica watches? The imitation watches can be the most ideal substitutes if nicely crafted.
